Making travel plans - Wednesday, April 16, 2008
It was a busy Saturday afternoon at the Iron River Post Office as postal employees assisted Iron County residents apply for passports on April 12. Dr. Charles Newby, right, and his family were making plans for a Mexican vacation as were Lou and Naomi DeZorzin of Iron River, who also were thinking about a trip to Italy, they said. Assisting with the application process were, seated, from left, postal employees Sue Stupp and Sherry Menapace. Passport applications will continue to be available at the post office during regular business hours, said Postmaster Mel DeGroot. “It was a very good turnout,” said DeGroot about the Passport Fair on Saturday, “even with the weather.” All that weekend snow may have had county residents ready to travel, anywhere.
